My Story

Hello! It is a pleasure to greet you, wishing you a successful day. I want to share some news about my family and me. I am Petronila Morente Ajqui and I am 14 years old. I want to let you know that we are not attending any Church because my father does not let us. We are grateful to the LW evangelism team who shared the gospel with my mother during the visit, and she is sure to have Jesus in her heart. This year, I am in 4th grade at school. I continue receiving face-to-face classes. I have improved my learning a lot with this study method, and I spend more time with my classmates. At the moment, my parents are making an effort to support my brother and me at school in spite of the school fees being so expensive and they do not have a stable job. When I am older, I want to work in the tortillas business in the city. My favorite celebration of the year is Christmas because my mother prepares “tamales” and we light fireworks. My native language is the Quiche Mayan dialect, so I would like to learn Spanish and improve my communication with others. My favorite beverage is fruit juice. I like to run outside between trees. I want to tell you that I celebrate my birthday with a delicious cake and share it with my family. By the grace of God, my family and I are in good health.

My mother`s name is Juana Ajqui. She is 42 years old. At the moment, she grows some herbs, corn, green tomato, “guicoyes” (a kind of pumpkin), and “guisquiles” (a kind of vegetable) to sell and get some income. We have turkeys, a dog, and some goats at home. My father`s name is David Morente Ruiz. He is 40 years old. I want to share some news about my family and me. Nowadays, my father continues working as a day laborer. Moreover, he goes to the coast to pick coffee beans for two months during harvest season in order to cover our expenses. As a humble family, our current needs are corn, clothes, and groceries. We are grateful to Living Water because we have been blessed with meals, medical and dental care and spiritual support. I want to say thank you for the Christmas gift that I receive at the year`s end. Thank you for reading my letter. May God bless you!

Kisses and hugs,

Petronila Morente Ajqui
