My Story

Hello! I am so happy you are reading my update information; God bless you. My name is Jessica Veronica Garcia Garcia. I will turn 12 years old in October of this year. I am in 5th grade, and I receive classes 2 or 3 days per week at school. Thankfully, I am doing well in my studies. I do the homework and help with some chores. During the time the feeding program was closed due to the pandemic, I missed the meals. Thank God, the program is already open. I walk one and a half hour to arrive to the program. My mother stays busy with the duties at home and raises hens, pigs and a cow, and she sells them only if we have some need at home My father continues working in a dairy in the United States. Fortunately, he is sending us financial support. My mother is a housewife and raises hens, pigs and a cow. She sells them only if we have some need at home.

My mother, siblings and I like spending time together, and sometimes, we watch a movie and share some snacks. We celebrate Christmas with our relatives by eating “tamales y ponche de frutas” (a typical dish and hot fruit punch). In addition, we participate in the special service at church. We attend Catholic Church, and we live 20 minutes from there. Due to the pandemic, we could not attend church and felt sad, but now, we are attending again. We live in my grandparents’ house; we share the house and the expenses with my grandparents and uncles. There are two rooms made of adobe and tin sheets roof. The floor is part dirt and part cement. We have running water and electricity. For now, the house condition is good. Due to the pandemic situation, my father did not have a job for a time, but thanks to God’s faithfulness and providence, we could go ahead. We are very thankful to Living Water because they blessed us with food parcels while the program was closed; it was a big help to us. For now, our priority needs are groceries and corn. In closing, I want to let you know that the LW team called us and asked for this updated information, so my mother provided it to them over the phone. I hope to receive news from you soon. Many and rich blessings!

Special regards,

Jessica Veronica Garcia Garcia
