My Story

It is a beautiful day to greet you hoping you are fine and receiving many blessing from God! Praise the Lord my family and I attend Catholic Church, and we go on Mondays. We trust our salvation in Christ, but we appreciate so much the encouraging words that LW staff gave us this time. My mother is Rubidia de la Cruz Gomez, and she is 45 years old. She stays busy with the housework, and she also raises hens and sheep to sell. My father is Jose Coj, and he is 40 years old. He works hard by farming the land and being a day laborer. At home, we grow black beans for the family's consumption. I am so thankful to God because my family and I are healthy.

I am Irma Esperanza Coj De La Cruz, and I am a 13-year-old girl. I am in 2nd grade; I like to attend school because I can share time with my classmates. Supporting my siblings and me at school has been hard for my parents because of a lack of resources, especially now that prices have increased. I would like to learn how to weave and embroider typical napkins; it is very interesting. My native language is K'iche´ Mayan dialect, and I would like to learn to speak Spanish because I would like to communicate better with other people. Playing football is so much fun; it is my favorite sport. Let me tell you that here in Guatemala, we have a protein drink called “Incaparina”; it is delicious and is my favorite drink. At Holy Week, we have the custom to eat bread with honey which is delicious. On my birthday, I like to wear my newest clothes and enjoy my day alongside my lovely family. I take this opportunity to give endless thanks for all the support I receive through Living Water; the meals are a great blessing for me, and it is an economic savings for my parents. My family needs groceries and corn. I send much love and I hope to receive news from you very soon. Every blessing to you!

Best wishes,

Irma Esperanza Coj De La Cruz
