My Story

First, thank you so much for taking the time to read my letter. My name is Maria, and I hope this finds you doing well. Before continuing with this, let me tell you that my mom and I gave all this information to a LW teacher to share a little bit about my life with you. We are grateful to him for encouraging us to continue loving the Almighty. My family and I attend an Evangelical Church called Sinai Mount. We usually have services twice a week. Fortunately, we are all in good health, even though three of my older siblings were diagnosed with a deficiency in mental development. My father is Venancio Luis Cux, and he is 59 years old. He makes a living as a farmer and day laborer. My mom is Tomasa Ruiz, and she is 58 years old. As a housewife, she keeps busy doing the chores and raising our hens and pigs. We work hard together by growing corn and beans for our consumption. We are a family with low economic resources. Some of our needs are clothes, groceries, and firewood.

Now, I want to tell you more about me. I am 19 years old, and this year, I was in fifth grade. I prefer to receive face-to-face classes because I can learn the lessons much better and do homework easily. I would love to do many things when I am older. Some of them are to make and sell tortillas in Zacualpa town and improve my Spanish speaking since my native language is the Kiche dialect. Therefore, I would love to count on your prayers. My favorite holiday is Christmas because of the tasty tamales. I like drinking coffee, and my favorite sport is soccer. There are many things that you can do for celebrating birthdays. In my case, I love having a delicious cake and receiving many gifts from my loved ones. To end this letter, I want you to know that many needy children like me have been blessed with delicious food at the feeding program. We are deeply grateful to God for this project. I will leave you know, but I hope to hear from you soon. Take care of yourself!

Cordiality yours,

Maria Luis Ruiz
