My Story

Hello! It is a pleasure to greet you in the name of our Lord Jesus and I want to share some news about my family and me through this letter. My name is Isis Yaymali Toj Sierra and I am 14 years old. We are attending the Catholic Church every Thursday and Friday. Unfortunately, this year I am repeating 7th grade at school. I am receiving face-to-face classes every day and I love this study method because I can learn more. I hope to pass my grade with God’s help. My parents strive to support my brother and me at school. Nowadays, school fees are expensive, and sometimes it is difficult to buy school uniforms because they do not have a stable job. In the future, I want to become a bilingual secretary. I speak Spanish, but I would like to learn a Quiche Mayan dialect called cakchiquel; I think this is a very interesting dialect here in Guatemala. Christmas is my favorite celebration of the year because I like to visit my relatives. I like to drink “Incaparina” (a hot beverage made of soy and corn flour). What I like for my birthday is to eat a delicious cake.  Among sports, I prefer basketball. Thank God my family and I are in good health.

My mother’s name is Maritza Magaly Sierra Aguilar. She is 36 years old. At the moment, she earns a living by working as a babysitter in order to support us financially.  As you know, my father abandoned the family 7 years ago, but he continues to contribute to home expenses. At the moment, he continues working as a blacksmith. His name is Oscar Humberto Toj Perez.  He is 37 years old. As a humble family, our current needs are groceries a stove and a wardrobe. We are grateful to Living Water because we have been blessed for instance with the meals, medical and dental, and spiritual support. I want to say thank you for the Christmas gifts that I receive at the end of the year. May God bless you greatly!

Lots of love,

Isis Yaymali Toj Sierra
