Zona 5, where your child lives, is located in a slum area of Guatemala City. An extremely poor area, our program is squeezed in among the shanty dwellings built over an old city dump. Many houses in this area are without toilets or running water and are assembled with scrap wood, sheet metal, and cardboard. Zone 5, is considered one of the most dangerous areas of Guatemala City. It is controlled by gangs and drug pushers. Robberies and murders are common in this area. Public education is available - however, many cannot afford it. Life in Zone 5 is very difficult. This child lives on top of an old rubbish dump in Zone 5 of Guatemala City.
Hello! My name is Anayeli Alexandra Guadalupe Junech Chavalo. I attend the Zone 5 feeding program. I was born on December 12th, 2006. I am twelve years old and I am in good health. I am attending fourth grade at school. In my free time, I like to play hide-and-seek, jump rope, paint and to watch television. My favorite color is purple, and my favorite animals are the cat and dog. I love to eat roast beef and beef soup. I have one brother and one baby sister of five months old. My father Johnny Alexander has abandoned my family two years ago and we do not know anything about his job. At first, he did not help us economically, but now he is sending us a monthly amount for our expenses. My mother is Dora Maribel and works by selling typical snacks like atol, tostadas and tortillas with cheese. She has started a new relationship with Mr. Brayan Sots that works as a blacksmith in order to help with the income. We live in a rented one-room house made of concrete block with cemented roof, granite floors, running water and electricity. We attend a Church called Trees of Justice.
With much love and many blessings,
Anayeli Alejandra Guadalupe Junech Chavalo
