Zona 5, where your child lives, is located in a slum area of Guatemala City. An extremely poor area, our program is squeezed in among the shanty dwellings built over an old city dump. Many houses in this area are without toilets or running water and are assembled with scrap wood, sheet metal, and cardboard. Zone 5, is considered one of the most dangerous areas of Guatemala City. It is controlled by gangs and drug pushers. Robberies and murders are common in this area. Public education is available - however, many cannot afford it. Life in Zone 5 is very difficult. This child lives on top of an old rubbish dump in Zone 5 of Guatemala City.
Hello! My name is Esmeralda Isabel Gonzales Gomez. I attend the Zone 5 feeding program. I was born on November 15th, 2014. I am four years old and I am in good health. Since I am still young, I am not attending school yet. In my free time, I like to play dolls and little toy dishes. My favorite color is pink, and my favorite animal is the cat. I love to eat Chao Mein noodles. I just have one brother. My father Pedro Anival works as a mason in order to support us. My mother Maria Isabel is a housewife, but she tries to help with the income by working as a maid or washing clothes for others. We live in a rented adobe house with a tin sheet roof and cement floors. There is just one room and a kitchen with running water and electricity. We attend a Catholic Church.
With much love and many blessings,
Esmeralda Isabel Gonzalez Gomez
