My Story

I greet you in the name of Jesus hoping you are fine. Praise the Lord my family and I attend Prince of Peace Church twice per week. We accepted Jesus in our hearts and pray everyday at home. We appreciate so much the encouraging words that LW staff gave us this time. I am so thankful to God because my family and I are fine. Even though my mother suffers from diabetes, she is taking medicine and it is under control. My father is Sebastian Suar Chingo, and he is 58 years old. He works as a farmer and day laborer to supply our home needs. My mother is Pabla Riz Simaj, and she is 53 years old. She does the duties at home and raises hens and turkeys. Moreover, she works as a day laborer to get some income. At home, we grow corn and black beans just for our consumption.

I am Maritza Mariela Suar Riz, and I am a 12-year-old girl. This year I am in 6th grade; my learning is going well since my classes are at school. Fortunately, my parents can support me at school. My native language is K'iche´ Mayan dialect, and I would like to learn to speak Spanish because I would like to communicate better with other people. Later, I would like to work as a maid. My favorite beverage is coffee. I like winter because of the rainy days. Playing football is so much fun; it is my favorite sport. To celebrate my birthday, my family buys me a delicious cake; they make me feel special. Being part of Living Water is a big blessing for me because I receive tasty meals and medical attention in the clinics, which is a big help for me and my family. At home, the main needs for us are corn and black beans. I say goodbye to you for now. Every kind of blessing on you!

Lots of love,

Maritza Mariela Suar Riz
