My Story

Special greetings to you! I hope this letter finds you and your loved ones doing well. This is Jessica Dominga de la Cruz Gutierrez, and I am 9 years old. Before sharing more about my life, I want you to know that my mom and a staff member of LW helped me write this letter. I am in third grade and have fun playing tag with my friends during recess. My best friends’ names are Rosaura and Carolina. I am grateful to the Lord for my mom’s life. She suffered from gallbladder stones, so she underwent surgery some months ago. It was painful to see her ill, so I prayed for her devoutly, and the Lord heard me. Thankfully, she is at home recovering.

I trust that the rest of my family and I are doing well because of God's grace and mercy. If you ask me who Jesus is to me, I would say He is my Savior. I love hearing about Him at my church. We are Catholics and like all the activities at church, especially the posadas (Guatemalan Catholic tradition in which people pray and carry the images of Mary and Joseph in a procession from home to home as a representation of their waiting for God’s son birth). I love my parents, but I identify the most with my mom because of her physical features. My father works hard in our village as a farmer and day laborer. I will leave you now, but I hope you found my information engaging. Have a blessed day!

With much love,

Jessica Dominga de la Cruz Gutierrez
