My Story

I greet you from the bottom of my heart and I hope you have a beautiful and blessed day alongside your loved family. In this opportunity, I want to share some news about my family and me through this letter. My name is Emelisa Micaela Gutierrez Gutierrez and I am 6 years old. This year I am in kindergarten II at school. I continue receiving face-to-face classes every day and I understand all about homework. Thankfully, my father is making an effort to support me at school in spite of the school fees being so expensive and that he does not have a stable job. Sometimes, it is very difficult to cover all school expenses. My dream is to become a doctor. My native language is the Quiche Mayan dialect, so I would like to learn Spanish and improve my communication with others. My favorite celebration of the year is Christmas because I like to eat “tamales” (a typical dish). I like to drink only water. What I would like for my birthday is to spend that day with my family and to eat delicious food for lunch. Soccer is my favorite sport.  As a big and humble family, our current needs are groceries and clothes. Thank God, my family and I are in good health.

My mother`s name is Marcelina Gutierrez Riz. She is 25 years old. At the moment, she does chores at home and takes care of the family. Moreover, she raises hens, pigs, and turkeys. My father`s name is Tomas Gutierrez Toj. He is 32 years old. Currently, he continues earning a living by working as a farmer and day laborer. We grow corn and black beans for our family`s consumption. I want to let you know that we are not attending any Church. Thank you to the LW evangelism team who shared the gospel with my mother, but she has not taken the decision to attend the church yet. My family and I are grateful to Living Water because thanks to your support I receive medical and dental attention in the clinics. In addition, I have a meal and spiritual support at the Feeding Program. Thank you for the Christmas gift that I receive through LW Adopt-A-Child in December. I hope you like to read my letter.
