My Story

It is a pleasure to greet you in the name of Jesus and I trust he is taking care of you! Praise the Lord my family and I continue attending Prince of Peace Church; we go on Thursdays and Sundays. This time LW staff encouraged us to continue seeking God and trust our salvation in Him. We appreciate so much they are worried about our spiritual life. I am so thankful to God because my family and I are healthy. My father is Camilo Gutierrez Garcia, and he is 37 years old. He lives and works in the United States. Thankfully, he is sending financial support. My mother is Luisa Calachij Morente, and she is 32 years old. She is a weaver, but she also raises hens, turkeys, and pigs. At home, we grow corn for the family's consumption, but it is not too much so we have to buy it in the market for our tortillas.

This is Marvin Rogelio Gutierrez Calachij, and I am 11 years old. I am in 5th grade, and I receive classes at school; I am learning a lot. Due to a lack of resources, this year my parents were striving to buy my school supplies and backpack; fortunately, they could cover them. Later, I would like to travel to the United States like my father did and work so that I can help my family. My favorite drink is the oatmeal that my mother prepares which is delicious. The sport I like the most is football. I like Christmas time; we prepare “tamales” (a typical dish) and we enjoy them at Christmas Eve dinner. Being part of the Living Water program is a great blessing for me because I receive tasty meals, and medical care in the clinics which is a big help for me and my family. For my family, the top priorities are groceries and corn. Well, this is all for now. May God bless you in your daily activities!

Hugs and much love,

Marvin Rogelio Gutierrez Calachij
