My Story

This is Edy Eliseo Garcia Alvarado, and I am writing this to update my 2023 information. First, I will tell you about my family. Currently, we are members of Prince of Peace Church, and we attend the services on Wednesday and Friday. We believe in God. We raise hens, and we sometimes sell them. We also grow corn but it is for our consumption. We are a humble family, and our greatest needs are groceries and soap. My father’s name is Camilo. He is 31 years old, and I want to ask you to pray for him because he is suffering from gastritis. He visited a doctor and is under a medical treatment, but apparently, it is not working. My mother’s name is Estela. She is 30 years old, and she is in good health too. She works hard at home and looks after our domestic animals. My dad is not working due to his situation, so my mother has asked for money to our neighbors to cover our basic needs.

Now let me tell you a little about myself. I am 10 years old, and I am healthy. I am in third grade, and I am happy to receive face-to-face classes because I learn more. It has been difficult for my father to cover my school expenses due to his health issues. I want to become a day laborer when I am older. My favorite celebration is Christmas because we prepare “tamales” and share time in family. We do not have the custom to celebrate my birthday due to our low resources. I prefer soccer as a sport, and I love drinking sodas. I want to improve my Spanish since I speak Quiche dialect as my first language. Living Water is very important in my life, and I am grateful for the delicious food. I hope to hear from you soon.
