My Story

Hi! I greet you cordially and hope you are doing fine and receiving the blessings of our Lord Jesus. First of all, my family and I are grateful to Living Water because I receive medical and dental attention in the LW clinics. In addition, I have a meal and spiritual support at the Feeding Program. I want to let you know that we are attending the Catholic Church every Thursday and Saturday. Thank you to the LW evangelism team for their encouraging words to my aunt during the visit. So, she is sure to go to heaven someday. My mother´s name is Teresa Leon Quino. She is 28 years old. At the moment, she continues earning a living by weaving typical blouses to sell and get some income in order to help us financially. As you know, she is living with her other family. She visits us every weekend. I am living with my maternal grandmother. Her name is Micaela Quino Ramos. She is 55 years old. She continues tending her own tortilla business. Moreover, she raises hens at home. In this opportunity, I want to ask for your prayers for her because she suffers from diabetes. Fortunately, she visited the doctor and now she is taking medicine. I want to let you know, that we received the notice that my father passed away last year. As you know, he was not living with us because he abandoned the family some years ago. As a humble family, our current needs are groceries and corn. Thank God, the rest of my family and I are in good health.

My name is Lesly Micaela Alejandra Gomez Leon and I am 12 years old. This year, I am in 5th grade at school. I receive face-to-face classes every day and I understand all about the subjects. At the moment, my mother and grandmother are making an effort to support my

sister and me at school in spite of the school fees being so expensive. Sometimes, it is difficult to cover every expense. My dream is to travel to the United States and look for a job there in order to help my family. My native language is the Quiche Mayan dialect, so I would like to learn English; I think this is a very interesting language. Christmas is my favorite celebration of the year because I like to light fireworks. Coca-Cola is what I enjoy drinking. Among sports, I prefer soccer. What I like to have for my birthday is to eat a delicious cake and to have “piñatas” (a kind of puppet full of candies). Thank you for the Christmas gift that I receive through Living Water Adopt-A-Child every December. I hope you enjoy reading my letter. May God bless you richly!

Huge hugs,

Lesly Micaela Alejandra Gomez Leon
