My Story

Jocotenango, where your child lives, is in the state of Sacatepéquez, Guatemala and is a suburb of Antigua. It is an urban environment and is inhabited by both Quiché Indians and Ladinos (those with mixed European ancestry). Most of the children attend school, but financial hardship affects many families and forces most of the children to leave after the sixth grade. Only one out of ten children finish high school. Children in this area face temptations from gangs and drugs.

Hello! My name is Lian Donato Mica Garcia. My date of birth is October 31, 2020. I will turn 4 years old this October. At school, I attend pre-kindergarten. My hobby is to play football. I love dogs and my favorite color is green. The meal I love is black beans. My father is Maynor Exequiel Mica Zelada. He makes a living by working as a mason around our village, and he is the only one who supplies our home needs. My mother is Ana Rocio Garcia Rogel. She stays busy with the chores at home. Thankfully, my family and I are in good health. Our pet is a dog.

My family and I attend Catholic Church. We are living in my grandmother´s house; we share the house with her and some uncles. There are five rooms and a kitchen. The house is made of cement blocks, a tin sheet roof and a ceramic floor. There are running water and electricity services; all the families contribute to pay for those services. I am so blessed to be registered in the feeding program; I usually walk 15 minutes to arrive at the program. As a family, we need groceries. I hope to hear news from you very soon. Many and abundant blessings!

Huge hugs,

Lian Donato Mica Garcia
