My Story

Chixocol, where your child lives, is a very small village nestled in a mountain valley in the state of Quiche, Guatemala. Life in this state is very difficult and somewhat isolated from the outside world. Most families live in one-room adobe houses with dirt floors and a small attached kitchen. The extremely poor live in houses made of corn stalks. In the past few years electricity and water have become available to most people in the area - however, indoor plumbing is very rare. Most of the families are farmers or shepherds and live off the fruits of their labors. Public education is available for those who can afford it and consider it of value.  Life in Quiche is always a challenge

Let me introduce myself through this letter. My name is Lester Elias Tzoy Ruiz. I turned 5 years old on October 12th, 2019, and I don´t attend school yet. I am in good health, and I enjoy playing with my toy cars and soccer in my free time. My favorite food is fried chicken. I love blue, and I like cats. My family and I attending the Assembly of God Church. I have one brother and one sister.  My father´s name is Jorge Rene Tzoy Hernandez. He is a farmer; he works in our neighbors’ land and with his income, he covers our expenses. My mother´s name is Esperanza Ruiz Gutierrez de Tzoy. She raises some hens, and she sells them to help with our income at home. We live in my father´s house, and we have two rooms and a kitchen. We have running water and electricity. My father pays for these services. We have some domestic animals like hens, dogs and cats. In spite of my father´s struggles for us, it is difficult for him to cover all our expenses.  We have many needs. Some of them are groceries, corn and shoes. We come to the feeding program in 30 minutes. We walk 20 minutes and take a bus for 10 minutes. It is a little difficult to get there, but I am very happy to be a part of  Living Water.  I have to say goodbye, but I wish you many blessings.

Hugs and Kisses.
