Chixocol

Chixocol, where your child lives, is a very small village nestled in a mountain valley in the state of Quiche, Guatemala. Life in this state is very difficult and somewhat isolated from the outside world. Most families live in one-room adobe houses with dirt floors and a small attached kitchen. The extremely poor live in houses made of corn stalks. In the past few years electricity and water have become available to most people in the area - however, indoor plumbing is very rare. Most of the families are farmers or shepherds and live off the fruits of their labors. Public education is available for those who can afford it and consider it of value. Life in Quiche is always a challenge
My name is Diego Aaron Cac Naz. I was born on March 4, 2016. I am 8 years old. I attend 2nd. grade this year. I spend my free time playing football. I love the color blue. I like hens. My favorite meal is chicken with a special sauce of tomatoes. Thank God, my father, siblings and I are in good health. However, my mother suffers from gastritis, and she doesn´t have a treatment for lack of resources. My father´s name is Manuel Cac Sicajau. He works at the terminal as a loader of packages in the market to supply our home needs. My mother´s name is Josefina Naz Aguilar. She works embroidering typical blouses and raises some hens to sell and earn some money to cover some of our needs. I have only one sister and one brother. We live on our own property; there are 3 rooms, and the kitchen is separate. The house is made of adobe, tile roof and concrete floor. There are running water and electricity services, and my grandmother pays for them every month. I walk 25 minutes to arrive at the feeding program. It is a great blessing for my family and me to be registered in the program. We are members of a Methodist church. As a family, our greatest needs are groceries. Thank you for taking the time to read my personal information.
Many hugs,
Diego Aaron Cac Naz
