Jocotenango, where your child lives, is in the state of Sacatepequez, Guatemala and is a suburb of Antigua. It is an urban environment and is inhabited by both Quiche Mayans and Ladinos (those with mixed European ancestry). Most of the children attend school, but financial hardship affects many families and forces most of the children to leave after the sixth grade. Only one out of ten children finish high school. Children in this area face temptations from gangs and drugs.
Many blessings and much love to you and your loved ones. I am so happy to be able to be a child of the feeding program of Living Water and it makes me happy to tell a little bit about myself. My name is Brayan Isaac Lux Xinic. I am five years old now. My birthday is February 23, 2020. I am in pre-k, and I love going to school. After school and on the weekends, I love to play with my little cars and play soccer. My favorite animal is a dog, but sadly we do not have any dogs or any pets of our own. I also love pizza! It’s my favorite food, and my favorite color is yellow. I love going to the feeding program and eating the delicious food they give us each week. I am very friendly, and I love meeting new people and playing. I want to tell you a little bit about my family now. My mom’s name is Maria del Rosario Xinic Gallina. She works as an employee for a vegetable vendor in the town market in Jocotenango. My dad is named Brayan Omar Lux Sen. He works in maintenance for the city of Antigua. Both my parents work hard to help provide for our family.
I do not have any brothers or sisters, but we live together in my grandfather’s house with my uncles and aunts. There are eight rooms in the house, but my parents and I share one room in the house. The walls are made of cinderblock, the floor is concrete, and we have a metal roof, and we have a little kitchen in our room. My parents help with my other family members to pay for the lights and water, but thankfully, my grandfather does not charge us for living there. We thank God for our good health and our many blessings. Our greatest need would be groceries and more prayers. We live about twenty minutes away from the feeding program. We usually drive my mom’s motorcycle to the program. We also go to church each week as a family. We go to New Life in Christ Pentecostal Church. I like going and learning about the stories of the Bible and how God loves us so much. I have to go now, but I want to thank you for taking the time to read my information and learn a little bit about me. I hope you liked what I said. I was so excited to share my information with the teacher because I knew someone would be able to read about me. I pray God will bless you today and every day. I send you much love!
Many hugs and kisses,
Brayan Isaac Lux Xinic
