My Story

Zacualpa is a small but busy village in a mountain valley. The village is inhabited by both Quiche Mayans and Ladinos (those with mixed European ancestry). The prevalent language is Spanish. Families in this village live in one or two room homes generally constructed of either wood or adobe. Although many of the people are farmers, the village contains several small specialized stores, a body repair shop for buses, mechanics, plumbers and many other small-town tradesmen. It also has a large open-air market which serves much of the area. Even with all of this, the poverty level is very high and the children are very needy.

I greet you in Jesus’ name. My name is Eva Leticia Tino Cux, and I want to tell you a little about my life. I was born on December 17, 2018, so I am 6 years old now. I am in good health, and I am in kindergarten this year. I do my homework after classes. I love playing with my dolls in my free time, and I enjoy eating chicken broth. My favorite color is pink, and I like dogs. I only have two brothers. I attend King Jesus Church with my family. My father’s name is Pedro Tino Riz, and he works as a farmer and day laborer; he also goes to work at the coast for some time to earn some extra money. My mother’s name is Rufina Cux Chingo, and she works as a weaver to help with the income. Thank God, my parents are both in good health.

We live in our own house, and it has three rooms and a kitchen. The house is made of adobe with a tin sheet roof and concrete floor.  We have electricity service, and we get the water from an artisan well. We have hens, pigs, sheep, a dog and a cat at home. We live 25 minutes away from the feeding program, and we take a moto-taxi to get there. We are a humble family, and our frequent needs are groceries and clothes; please keep us in your prayers. I tell you that my mom helped me to give my information to LW evangelism team, and who accompanies me to the program. I say goodbye to you for now.

Kisses and hugs
