My Story

Hello! My name is Marsel Xhukellari. I am 10 years old and my birthday is on April 3^rd. I am doing well and my health is good. My favorite color is orange and my future dream is to become police. I go to fourth grade primary school and the subject I enjoy studying the best is language and reading. I go to school where I spend the first part of the day and after school, I like to spend a while playing outside with my friends. The weather is nice at present and the days are longer, so I can stay out to play more. My favorite game to play is football and I am happy that we will enjoy watching on television the World Cup this year. After lunch I like to help my mother while she cleans our house. Sometimes I also like to do some shopping together with her. During the evenings, I like to sit and study for a while, for the next day of school and afterwards, my parents and I take walks by the lake. During the season, the walks during evenings are traditional. We try to go to the town, especially during weekends. I live in a village very near the town of Pogradec. My house is a village one and offers appropriate conditions. I have five members in my family, my parents, my two older sisters and myself. One of my older sisters is still in high school and my other older sister is working in another town, where she is also studying. My father used to work in the market, selling fruits and vegetables for eight years, and this is before many years. Few years latter, he got ill with diabetics, and he is no longer working. Because of this kind of illness, he receives an invalid pension. My mother is jobless, same as the rest of the ladies who live in the village. She cleans, cooks and takes care of our house. The income in our family is low and we are poor. I am thankful to the program of Adopt a Child who delivers for me and my family food packages constantly, offering us physical care. I come together with my mother to church every Friday and I enjoy the lessons that I receive from the Bible. After each lessons, we have games, singing, etc. and I like to be active and participate.
