My Story

Duenas, where your child lives, is a small farming village located at the foot of one of Guatemala's active volcanoes, Fuego (Fire). The fertile ground around the village allows for the cultivation of roses and coffee, two of Guatemala's largest exports. Most of the families in this area live in one or two room wooden or adobe houses with tin roofs. Electricity is available to those who can afford it. Running water is available - however, most homes do not have indoor plumbing. Public education is available for those who can afford it and consider education of value. Life in Duenas is quiet and sometimes difficult.

It is a beautiful day to say hello to you, and I hope this finds you doing well! My name is Anderson Esequiel Ordonez Gomez. My birthdate is February 12, 2021. My current age is 5 years old, and I am in good health, and so is my family. I live with my mom and sister. Edi Alexander Ordonez Puc is my father. Evelyn Del Rosario Gomez Lopez is my mother. Unfortunately, my parents got separated about two years ago. My father works in automotive mechanics business; he keeps in touch with, but we do not receive any support from him. Thank God, my mother struggles for our family; she works as a maid to get income. Could you please pray for my family and that my mom continues having a job, so we can have the necessities at home? We do not attend any church now.

I am in pre-school this year. I like to watch TV programs. My favorite color is white. I love eating noodles. Our pet is a cat since it is my favorite animal. We are living in my grandmother's house and my uncles and cousins live there too. There are four rooms and the kitchen is separated. The house is made of metal sheets so are the walls and roof with a cement floor. We have running water and electricity; the whole family contributes to pay for the bills every month. My family and I are so grateful to be enrolled in the feeding program and receive support through meals and medical care in the clinics. Thank you for showing interest in reading my information. Many abundant blessings over you!

Lots of love,

Anderson Esequiel Ordonez Gomez
