My Story

Chixocol, where your child lives, is a very small village nestled in a mountain valley in the state of Quiche, Guatemala. Life in this state is very difficult and somewhat isolated from the outside world. Most families live in one-room adobe houses with dirt floors and a small attached kitchen. The extremely poor live in houses made of corn stalks. In the past few years electricity and water have become available to most people in the area - however, indoor plumbing is very rare. Most of the families are farmers or shepherds and live off the fruits of their labors. Public education is available for those who can afford it and consider it of value.  Life in Quiche is always a challenge.

Let me thank you for giving me the opportunity to be blessed through Living Water. I am glad to say hello! My name is Tyler Steven de la Cruz Garcia. I was born on June 7, 2022. I am 4 years old now. I do not attend school yet. I spend time playing toy cars. My favorite color is blue and I love the lion. I like to eat fried chicken. My family and I are in good health. My father is Jose de la Cruz Coj. He works as a mason. My mother is Keyla Lisbeth Garcia de la Cruz. She is a housewife, and she raises hens. I am an only child for now. Thankfully, my family is in good health. My family attends the Catholic Church.

We live in our own house. There are three rooms made of adobe, tile roof and granite floor. We have an artisanal well and electricity. My father pays for it. Our main needs are groceries. It takes me about 10 minutes by motorcycle to arrive at the feeding program. I hope you are doing well when you receive my letter.
