My Story

Chixocol, where your child lives, is a very small village nestled in a mountain valley in the state of Quiche, Guatemala. Life in this state is very difficult and somewhat isolated from the outside world. Most families live in one-room adobe houses with dirt floors and a small attached kitchen. The extremely poor live in houses made of corn stalks. In the past few years electricity and water have become available to most people in the area - however, indoor plumbing is very rare. Most of the families are farmers or shepherds and live off the fruits of their labors. Public education is available for those who can afford it and consider it of value.  Life in Quiche is always a challenge.

Being part of the feeding program has been a wonderful experience and a big blessing for me. Please accept warm regards from Leibniz Honter Cornelio Larios Valey. I am 4 years old now. I was born on May 12, 2022. I do not attend school yet due to my young age. I spend time playing toy cars and coloring at home. My favorite animal is the cow and I love the color green. The meal that I like the most is fried chicken. About my family: my father´s name is Ruben Larios Garcia. He earns a living working as a physical education teacher in a Primary School in Joyabaj. My mother´s name is Heidy Carolina Valey Gutierrez. She is a housewife, and she spends time raising chickens. I have two brothers; they are part of the feeding program too. Thankfully, my family is in good health. We attend the Catholic Church.

Thank God, my parents have our own house, and we live there. There are three rooms and a separate kitchen. It is made of block walls, tin sheet roof and granite floor. We have electricity; my father pays for this service. We get the water from a hand-dug well. One of our main needs is groceries. It takes me about 30 minutes to get from home to the feeding program. This is all for now. I will be praying that God pours out many blessings upon you.

With much love,

Leibniz Honter Cornelio Larios Valey
