My Story

Chixocol, where your child lives, is a very small village nestled in a mountain valley in the state of Quiche, Guatemala. Life in this state is very difficult and somewhat isolated from the outside world. Most families live in one-room adobe houses with dirt floors and a small attached kitchen. The extremely poor live in houses made of corn stalks. In the past few years electricity and water have become available to most people in the area - however, indoor plumbing is very rare. Most of the families are farmers or shepherds and live off the fruits of their labors. Public education is available for those who can afford it and consider it of value.  Life in Quiche is always a challenge.

I am very grateful for the opportunity to be part of Living Water and to be blessed with lunch and medicine. My name is Oliver Emmanuel Pol Aguilar and it is a pleasure to send you my sincere regards. I am 5 years old now. I was born on July 29, 2021. I attend preschool. I enjoy watching TV. My favorite animal is the cat. I like to eat chicken soup. Let me tell you about my family. My father is Mario Pol Tzoc. He works as a driver and bottled water delivery person. Please pray for my father because he has a hernia in his groin and has not received treatment due to lack of financial resources. My mother is Roxana Maribel Aguilar Chingo. She works cutting up chickens, and she prepares jellies and ice creams to sell. I have one brother and one sister. He attends the feeding program. My family attends a church called “Evangelio Completo”.

God has blessed us with our own house. There are three rooms made of adobe, tin sheet roof and concrete floor with a separate kitchen. It has electricity and my father pays for this service. We share the water with other relatives. Our greatest needs are groceries. It takes me about 10 minutes by bus from home to get to the feeding program. This is all for now and I hope you like my letter.
