My Story

I hope you are doing fine. I am so happy to be sharing with you about my family and me. This is Thelma Elizabeth Rodriguez Hernandez, and I am 14 years old. My mother`s name is Teresa Hernandez Calachij and she is 34 years old. She continues doing chores at home. In addition, she weaves typical belts. At home, we raise hens for our consumption. My father`s name is Luis Rodriguez Riz and he is 37 years old. He continues working as a farmer and day laborer. In addition, he travels to the Coast to pick coffee beans from November to February during the harvest season. We continue attending the Church of Christ every Sunday. We are grateful to the Living Water evangelism team who encouraged us to continue seeking God and trust in him.

This year I am in 5th. grade. I am learning a lot because I receive face-to-face classes every day. Nowadays, my father is making an effort to support me at school even though he does not have a stable job. School supplies are so expensive, and sometimes it is hard for him to cover my expenses. When I am older, I want to become a teacher. My native language is Maya Quiche, but I would like to learn English; I think it is a very interesting language. I like Christmas time because we eat “tamales” (a typical dish). My favorite beverage is “mosh” (a hot drink made of oatmeal). For my birthday date, I enjoy eating a delicious cake. In my spare time, I like to run outside. By the grace of God, all my family is in good health. My family is grateful to LW because we have been blessed in different ways with meals, medical and dental attention, and spiritual support also, I also feel so happy when I receive the Christmas gift.  Our current needs are corn and groceries as a humble family. With lots of love!

Kind regards,

Thelma Elizabeth Rodriguez Hernandez
