My Story

Hello! How are you? My name is Luis Antonio Marroquin Valdes, and I want to tell you a little about my life. I was born on May 24th, 1952, so I am now 71 years old. I got married to Olga Marina Estrada, but unfortunately, she passed away 40 years ago; we only had one child. My daughter is 46 years old now, and we live together since she cannot fend for herself. She uses a cane for walking due to a poorly treated fracture, and she also suffers from strong headaches due to a problem that she suffered in February 2023; unfortunately, she does not take medicine due to our low resources. She is also registered at the feeding program. I suffer from diabetes, and I need to take medicine every day, but unfortunately, I cannot do it because I do not have money to buy it. Due to my age, people do not hire me, so I ask for money on the street to cover our needs. I buy food on credit in a store when I do not have money, but I always pay when I can get some resources.

My daughter and I live in my brothers’ house, and we also share it with one of my nephews. Their house has six rooms, and it is made of concrete block with a tin sheet roof and cement floor; it has running water and electricity, and they pay these bills. We use two rooms and do not have a kitchen, so when we need to cook, my brothers lend us their stove and kitchen. Sometimes, they bless us with a plate of food. I am happy to be part of the feeding program, and I walk for 25 minutes to arrive there. We pass through some difficult economic situations, and we are always in need of groceries and medicine, so I would like to ask you to pray for us. We attend the Catholic Church, and we pray God helps us to go ahead. I say goodbye for now hoping you find my information interesting. May God bless you!

Sincerely yours

Luis Antonio Marroquin Valdes
