My Story

Jocotenango, where your child lives, is in the state of Sacatepéquez, Guatemala and is a suburb of Antigua. It is an urban environment and is inhabited by both Quiché Indians and Ladinos (those with mixed European ancestry). Most of the children attend school, but financial hardship affects many families and forces most of the children to leave after the sixth grade. Only one out of ten children finish high school. Children in this area face temptations from gangs and drugs.

Hello! My name is Christian David Perez Solis. I was born on March 23, 20215 in Guatemala City. I am a 9-year-old boy. This year I am in 3^rd grade. I love playing soccer with my friends. I love furry friends such as dogs and cats. My favorite food is pizza; the color blue is the one I love most. I have one brother and one sister. My mother is Liliana de los Angeles Solis Ruano. She works in a call center in Guatemala City from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. My father is Mynor David Perez Ramirez. He works at a company called Gerfor and operates machinery to support our family. By the grace of God, my family and I are fine.

We are members of the Liberty Church from LW in Jocotenango. We live in my grandma´s house; living with us are one aunt and a cousin. The are four cement block rooms; we use two of them and the kitchen is separated. The roof is made of tin sheets and the floor is made a part of cement and a part of ceramic. We have running water and electricity services; my parents contribute to pay for these. I am very happy attending the feeding program; I walk only 10 minutes to arrive there.
