My Story

I greet you fondly, hoping you are doing well. I am Luis Miguel, and I am twelve years old. I attend the Prince of Peace Church along with my family on Fridays. I love Jesus with all my heart! A teacher of LW encouraged us to strengthen our faith while she collected this information for you. My father is Santos Gomez, and he is 35 years old. He works hard at the coast by cutting coffee beans to cover our expenses. He visits us every month. My mother is Irma Benito, and she is 30 years old. She is a housewife and tries to help my father by making and selling typical items that she weaves. We are a humble family, and our priorities are clothes and food supplies. However, we try to survive by taking advantage of the rainy season to cultivate corn, beans, and herbs for our consumption. Thankfully, my whole family and I are healthy.

I am in third grade. Receiving face-to-face classes is a better way to learn my lessons than studying at home as I had to do during the pandemic. Supporting my school necessities has been a little hard for my parents. One of my biggest dreams is to become a teacher, so I would like to count on your prayers for my parents and me. The season that I love the most is Christmastime because I enjoy eating tamales (this is a typical dish). My mother prepares delicious hot drinks, but my favorite is “atoll de masa” (this is a typical sweet corn dough drink).  I am a native Quiche speaker, although I know a few Spanish words. Therefore, I hope to speak it fluently someday. My next birthday will be in December, so I would like to have a pinata (this is a traditional birthday puppet full of candies; this is made of wire and colorful tissue paper) to celebrate with my family. For having fun, I enjoy playing soccer with my youngest brother, Edgar, or my friends. I leave you now, but before I go, I want you to know that LW has been a great blessing and support for my whole family and me.

From the bottom of my heart,

Luis Miguel Gomez Benito
